At least 20 people were killed in two shootings when a lone gunman opened fire on the Virginia Tech University campus in Blacksburg on Monday, police said. Police said they believe the shooter also is dead. Amie Steele, editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, said one of her reporters at one of the dormitories where the shootings took place reported "mass chaos."

Gunfire erupted in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech on Monday, killing at least one person and leaving 21 injured before a suspect was arrested, authorities said.

The university told students to stay inside and away from windows as police swept the campus and worked to establish whether the gunman acted alone.

A hospital spokeswoman said 21 students were treated for gunshot wounds and other injuries.

On the Web site, Tech reported the shootings at opposite sides of the 2,600-acre campus at West Ambler Johnston, a co-ed residence hall that houses 895 people, and said there were "multiple victims" at Norris Hall, an engineering building.

All entrances to the campus were closed and classes canceled through Tuesday.

"There's just a lot of commotion. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on," said student Jason Anthony Smith, 19, who lives in the dorm where shooting took place.

Aimee Kanode, a freshman from Martinsville, said the shooting happened on the 4th floor of West Ambler Johnston dormitory, one floor above her room. Kanode's resident assistant knocked on her door about 8 a.m. to notify students to stay put.

"They had us under lockdown," Kanode said. "They temporarily lifted the lockdown, the gunman shot again."

"We're all locked in our dorms surfing the Internet trying to figure out what's going on," Kanode said.

Madison Van Duyne, a student who was interviewed by telephone on CNN, said, "We are all in lockdown. Most of the students are sitting on the floors away from the windows just trying to be as safe as possible."

ONE celeb gets out of rehab, another goes in. On the heels of Britney Spears' release from the Promises clinic, Hollywood hunk Jesse Metcalfe checked himself in to an undisclosed rehab center for alcohol abuse this week, a rep for the star confirmed. This decision was made Monday, the day before Page Six broke the story of Metcalfe's weekend-long binge at the Mondrian hotel in L.A., where sources reported he looked like he hadn't slept in days and was acting "very angry" and "out of control." Now, Metcalfe's rep has sent us the following statement: "On Monday, March 19, Jesse Metcalfe entered a rehab facility to deal with alcohol issues. He realized he had a problem and was anxious to deal with it immediately. The actor, best known as the hunky gardener on the ABC show 'Desperate Housewives' and the star of the film 'John Tucker Must Die,' hopes that the media will allow him the privacy to deal properly with his treatment."

LOS ANGELES (March 22) - Actress Vivica A. Fox , known for roles in movies such as "Independence Day" and "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," was arrested on suspicion for drunken driving in Los Angeles, police said Wednesday.

Fox, 42, was stopped late Tuesday night on a freeway in her Cadillac sports utility vehicle after passing a marked police car going 80 mph -- 15 miles faster than the speed limit. She also was unable to stay in the correct lane, according to the arrest report from the California Highway Patrol.

After being stopped, the actress was unable to perform a sobriety test and her breath indicated a blood alcohol level over the legal limit of 0.08 percent, the report stated.

Fox was cited for driving under the influence and released. A court date has not yet been set.

Fox is currently starring in the television drama "Missing" on the U.S. cable TV network Lifetime, and she was recently a contestant on popular U.S. television contest "Dancing With the Stars."

Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm turned down the chance to reunite with the girl group because she is still haunted by negative memories of her time with the group. The 32-year-old singer claims she suffered an eating disorder while in the band, and she is still disturbed by the impact her skinny image had on young fans.

She says, "When I was in the Spice Girls I wasn't eating, I was exercising way too much, my periods had stopped and my bone density was dangerously low. And the worst thing about it is that I was a role model to millions of young girls."

Sporty Spice Chisholm last week hit out at claims she is the only Spice Girl refusing to reunite, insisting other former band members are also against a comeback.

Britney Spears is facing bankruptcy after spending a staggering $21 million in the past two years, according to a British newspaper.

The troubled pop princess is currently being treated for a substance abuse problem at California's Promises rehab clinic.

The Daily Star alleges Spears is "scared to death" of the financial situation she faces when she leaves the center, after spending two thirds of her $32 million fortune.

A family friend is quoted by the newspaper, saying, "She has to concentrate on staying sober, but she can't do that if she has to worry about going broke - which is exactly what she thinks will happen."

Whitney Houston's toyboy, Ray J, has been offered the chance to become a hardcore porn mogul by adult film bosses who liked what they saw on his X-rated sex tape. The singer, R&B star Brandy's little brother, filmed a sex session with ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and the footage found its way into the hands of porn bosses at Vivid Entertainment.

The sex film experts are so impressed with Ray J's X-rated skills, they want to give him the chance to get paid for filming others getting hot and heavy. According to website TMZ.com, Ray-J has been offered a four picture deal by Vivid Entertainment bosses, who want him direct films.

Company CEO Steven Hirsh tells the website, "Our first conversations were very uncomfortable, but, after continuing to talk, the possibility was definitely in the air."

John Travolta would like to expand his family – if his wife, actress Kelly Preston, will allow it, the actor tells PEOPLE.

"There's a thought of this summer maybe trying for a third but that depends on Kelly's schedule," Travolta told PEOPLE at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas. " I leave it up to her."

Travolta, 53, and Preston, 44, have two children – Jett, 14, and Ella Bleu, 7 – but another child has been on the couple's mind.

"I really like having kids. I enjoy their energy and it keeps everything wonderful and hopeful," says Travolta, who was in town to promote his upcoming summer movie, Hairspray. "I grew up with six kids in my family. I thought I would have five or six."

On watching his children grow up, he said, "It's fascinating always, because they're yours and they're beautiful and they're constantly changing and offering you new thoughts and ideas, so I love watching them grow up...They're your future, really."

There will be no wedding for pregnant singer Charlotte Church – for now, at least.

Church, 21, on Monday denied tabloid reports that she is set to marry her rugby-star boyfriend Gavin Henson, 25, next month in a castle near her home in Cardiff, Wales.

A rep for the singer tells PEOPLE: "This is definitely not true."

Earlier this month, Church revealed she is pregnant with Henson's baby. The couple live together and have been dating for about 18 months.

Church, who has her own late-night show on British TV, first found fame at age 13, when her 1999 debut album Voice of an Angel' sold more than three million copies worldwide. Her audiences have included Bill Clinton, Pope John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth II.
